Call for Surrenderby Democrats Make Iraq a Failure?Commentary for Friday 05/11/2007 What Happens Next in Iraq? Bush and Cheney: Sometimes intentions do count. I know it's hard to overlook the miscalculations of the Bush administration, but a closer examination does show real time decisions based on current knowledge at the time. Numerous decisions were based on faulty assumptions such as the one about being welcomed as liberators. To an extent, that was true, but the Saddam Loyalist certainly didn't think we were liberators. I can't figure out how Bush and his advisors ever thought that these guys would just suddenly start loving us as soon as we took their benefactor away from them. Did they think that the Sunnis would just give up without a struggle? It is obvious that they reached out to Al Qaeda for help. The rest as they say is history. Hind Sight: Being armed with what actually happened makes it a lot easier to see the bumbling of this administration. What is not in "Hind Sight" is the question of the future perils that Iraq presents if the U.S. bails out of there. Here are a few thoughts to cogitate on:
Dangerous Game: The play for political power is a very dangerous game that the Democrats are playing. They have put all their eggs into one basket, the defeat of George Bush's policies and the Republicans in 2008. Their quest for power is driving the world towards an even larger conflict. They are blind to the results of what their actions are going to cause. The Democrats can't get past the 2000 election. They seethe with rage because their candidate won a majority of votes, but lost the election. They seethe with rage because they lost the Congress to the Republicans and the "Contract with America". Now that they have won back the congress, the Democrats are doing their best to purge and punish any opposition or perceived opposition to them. Consequences of their actions do not bother the Democrats as long as they retain their political power. Tired of the War: Democrats are now taking advantage of the fact that most Americans are tired of the war in Iraq. It is their pretext to cut the funding of our troops over there. The far leftist elements of their party control the political purse, and Democrats have sold their independence for that money. It is truly sad to see the once proud party lining up for the handouts of these extreme left organizations. Remember, nothing is free, and by the Dems accepting that money, they turn their back on the voters who sent them. They have sold their votes to special interest. A Backlash: Keep in mind that the Americans are tired of the war, but their feelings underneath do not want the U.S. to lose. That is why the Democrats are so fearful of the latest "surge". The success of the surge would be catastrophic for the Democrats. Their money is riding on forcing Bush out of Iraq. It is for sure that if we leave, there can be no successful outcome. We say to the Democrats, "Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it, then what?"
